Welcome To Maui
MAUI TRAVEL, sounds very romantic, and it is! First a few myths to dispel, no one lives in a grass hut in Hawaii; no, there are not mud trails for roads on the island and no, you do not have to eat raw fish and poi.
Maui is one of the most welcoming vacation destinations in the world. The climate is very tropical and the Island is way beyond beautiful. The people are friendly and the activities and accommodations are world class.
MAUI – The Island has two major towns and several smaller communities. The roads are as you would find them in any municipality in the US. They are well paved on most of the island while signs and markings are the same as you have throughout the US. You will find that the names, (in Hawaiian) will take some getting used to, as they tend to be full of vowels and are unfamiliar.
Remember, Hawaii is a U.S. State and the locals do not take kindly to comments such as “Back in the States, etc”.
You will find that the towns have many of the stores and shops with which you are familiar. Fast food stores such as McDonalds, Burger King and KFC, only to mention a few are available on the island. There is one major mall; a Costco, Wal-Mart and a K-Mart as well as Ace Hardware and many other familiar stores are located in Kahului.

There is limited public transportation, so renting a car is almost a must. This should be arranged before leaving for Maui as the availability of cars cannot be guaranteed on short notice. Most car rental companies have operations on Maui, and are located at the main airport and some major resorts.
